Swiss authorities have raised the security alert level in Geneva after receiving information about the possible presence of suspects connected with investigations into the November 13 attacks in Paris.
“The Geneva police, on the basis of this information, have increased their level of vigilance and reinforced the number of police agents on the ground,” the Geneva department of security said in a statement.
A security guard at the United Nations in Geneva told Reuters that Swiss authorities were searching for “four guys” believed to be in the area. U.N. security guards were stationed with MP5 sub-machine guns at entry points for cars at U.N. headquarters.
Separately, Belgian prosecutors said they had searched three premises in searches related to the Paris attacks. One of the suspected attackers, the Belgian Salah Abdeslam, is still on the run.
