Macedonian police used tear gas to push back more than 500 migrants from a border fence along a refugee camp on the Greek side, Reuters reported.
“They threw rocks at the Macedonian police. The police fired tear gas in response,” a Macedonian official said Sunday.
More than 10,000 migrants and refugees have been living at the sprawling tent camp in Idomeni since February, after the closure of the Balkan route.
In February a similar situation occurred when hundreds of migrants charged the Greece-Macedonia border using a metal pole to tear down a gate in an effort to cross into the country.
Migrants at Idomeni are demanding the border with Macedonia be opened, but no migrants have been allowed through for weeks.
