Greek Interior Minister Panayotis Kouroumblis on Friday said conditions at the Idomeni refugee camp on the Greece-Macedonia border were like those in Nazi concentrations camps.
“This is a modern Dachau, the result of closed borders logic,” said Kouroublis during a visit to the camp.
“Whoever comes here takes several blows to the stomach,” he said, adding that the Greek government will improve the supervision and medical care of the camp.
The Greek government said more than 46,000 migrants were stuck in the country because of border closures.
Dimitris Avramopoulos, the European commissioner for migration, visited the Idomeni camp on Tuesday. He said the situation there was tragic and an insult to European values.
